Striving Towards a Better Future- Employability training

Striving Towards a Better Future is an innovative, multi-faceted program designed to equip marginalized young adults, between the ages of 18 and 35 located in Israel’s social and geographic peripheries, with the motivation, confidence and skills they need to succeed in Israeli society by integrating them into the workforce. The program aims to break the cycle of poverty and underachievement by increasing chances for upward mobility and financial independence. The model was developed to provide a multi-faceted rather than a linear, one dimensional approach, recognizing the many issues these young people face. The program piloted in a small community on the outskirts of Haifa with the support of the UJA Federation of New York.  Soon after, DM Trust supported the development of a second group in a neighboring town. On the success of the pilot, which surpassed expectations, two further groups were opened. The pilot’s evaluation demonstrated an 85% success rate of integration into the workforce upon completion of the program and 80% retention after one year.
